1. Change boot options
Boot options are the settings that dictate how the computer boots or starts. Many settings fall under boot options, such as UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) or BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) mode, enabling or disabling fast boot, secure boot, and legacy support. When a user creates a Windows installation media disc through any third-party software, they need to configure the boot options. If the user selects the incorrect boot option while creating a Windows installation media disc, the system won’t be able to boot. In this case, the user needs to change the boot options in order to boot the Windows installation media disc.
2. Reseat Your OS Drive
It is possible that your OS drive is not connected properly, which is why the system cannot detect the bootable image. If you have recently made any hardware changes to your system, you should definitely check whether the OS drive is properly connected or not. You can also try to reseat your OS drive. For that, just open up the case, remove the drive that has the operating system installed, then connect the OS drive back. Once done, turn on the notebook and see if the error persists or not.
3. Reset Your Bios Settings
Resetting the bios settings is a way to reset the boot option. In case you have an incorrect boot option selected, you can simply reset your bios settings, which will change the boot options to default. Follow the steps to reset the bios settings.
4. Reinstall the Operating System
This issue also occurs due to a problem with the operating system files, which prevents the system from detecting the bootable image. If that’s the case, you need to reinstall the operating system. While creating a bootable image, make sure to select the correct boot option if you are downloading the iso file. To reinstall the operating system, visit How to Install Windows.
5. Replace Your drive
If you are still encountering a problem even after reinstalling the operating system, it is obvious that your os drive has a hardware issue, which is why the system is not able to detect the drive. In this case, if you have access to another computer, you can test the drive. To test the drive, open the case of another computer. Connect the problematic drive and check if the computer can detect the drive or not. If it’s not detecting, then it is clear that your OS drive has a hardware problem causing this error. Throughout this guide, we have given all the possible solutions that could fix this issue. In case none of the methods worked for you, you can take your system to a repair shop to diagnose this issue properly.
