There are two variations of this error code, here:
Please try to power cycle the camera (error code: -90)Device is offline (error code 90). Please check your internet connection or power cycle the camera.
Why this error occurs?
There are many reasons that can cause Wyze error code 90, here are some common reasons:
A weak Internet connectionA power outageFirmware issueHardware issue with your camera
Note: Make sure you’re using the same WiFi settings which Wyze recommends for its products (more on that later). Secondly, power cycle your camera and make sure the internet signals are strong.
How can I fix this error?
Fortunately, there are many solutions available for this error because this is a fairly widespread issue with Wyze cameras. We have a list of confirmed working solutions down below so you can get your Wyze camera up & running in no time.
1. Check your Internet Connection
Wyze cams require a stable and strong internet connection to connect with the servers. If your signals are weak or they break down from time to time, then this won’t be possible. Therefore, make sure you have good WiFi and no object is blocking the signals. It helps the signals to reach quickly when there are fewer interfering devices between the router and the cams. It is also advised to keep your router firmware up-to-date for better performance.
2. Power cycle the Camera
Power cycling refers to completely disconnecting your cam from the power source for a few seconds and then connecting it again. This helps refresh the device and overcome Wyze connectivity issues like Error code 90. Not only that, but camera crashing, freezing, and other performance issues are also countered. Furthermore, if your home has power outages, power cycling the camera will help it reset and function properly again. Here’s how to do that:
3. Pair Wyze Camera with the Application Again
Before moving on to the more technical fixes, try to remove your camera from the Wyze app and pair it again. It’s a simple process which can be done as follows:
4. Reboot your Router
If power cycling the cams doesn’t work, then try rebooting your router. Since the ‘Device is offline’ error is mainly related to the internet, it is highly likely that the problem can be with your router and not the camera itself. Reboot your router with the steps below:
5. Use the Correct WiFi Security, Mode, and Band
Wyze cams run on certain WiFi settings. You must ensure that the WiFi mode is 802.11 b/g/n, the band is 2.4 GHz, and the security mode is WPA/WPA2 or just WPA2. Here’s how to do that:
6. Change the WiFi Channel
The 2.4 GHz band has 11 channels and only 1, 6, and 11 don’t overlap. This means that they are less crowded and their connection speed is faster. It is possible that the default channel selection wouldn’t be from one of these three and that could be the reason why Wyze cams are showing the Error code 90. The following are the steps to manually change the WiFi channel:
7. Assign Static IP Addresses to your Cameras
Some devices require a static IP address to work properly as it helps avoid network conflict. Static IP addresses do not change, so designating dedicated IPs to Wyze cams will help them function better. Before doing this, you need to know the Subnet Mask of your network adapter in the following way: For Windows:
For Mac: The second step is to note the IP address of your Wyze cam.
Now follow the steps for assigning a static IP to Wyze Cam on all operating systems.
On Windows
On Mac
For Android
For iOS
8. Get a New Micro SD Card
Another possibility is that your microSD card can be corrupted or the camera is simply not compatible with that particular version. So, try removing the SD card and setting up your camera again. Afterward, check if the cam starts to record the footage. If it does, then it means your SD card was damaged. The best solution would be to get a new SD card and insert it into your cam.
9. Change the Recording Quality
If your camera records in HD quality, then reduce it to SD for a moment to check whether this eliminates the error. The issue can be with your bandwidth which is for some reason being unable to transmit data faster. And, this disallows the support for HD recording. Simply click on the quality settings located on the top left and select SD or 360P instead of HD. The camera should run fine now.
10. Factory Reset the Camera
A factory reset takes back the camera to its default settings and previous functioning states. This is one of the basic methods suggested by Wyze to counter issues like Error code 90. The steps vary for different cam models, which I’ll list below.
