There are some important considerations before deleting your account. Before you proceed, check the potential impacts of this action. Here’s what will happen once you delete your Reddit account:
Your Profile will be permanently removed from Reddit: All your profile information, such as karma, avatar, cake day, and the history of your posts/comments, will be removed. People searching for you through a URL will see a message that the account has been deleted.Your Username will be permanently removed from Reddit: Once the account is deleted, your username will be gone forever, and no one will be able to create an account with that username again.Your Messages and Chats will become unattributed: Your messages and chats will remain on Reddit, but your username and avatar will not be visible.Your Posts and Comments will become unattributed: Similarly, your posts and comments will stay on Reddit, but others won’t see your username or avatar.
For content that won’t be automatically removed with the account, you need to delete it manually. This includes messages, chats, posts, and comments, which must be removed manually. If not, they will remain on Reddit, visible to others.
How to Delete Your Reddit Account
On Reddit, you won’t find an option specifically labeled as “delete account.” Instead, there’s an option for deactivation in the user settings, which effectively works as account deletion. Once you deactivate your Reddit account, you cannot reactivate it. You can also delete your Reddit account on your phone, but note that the Deactivate Account option isn’t available on the Reddit app for phones.
