Since the error occurs due to a connection issue, it would be normal to assume your internet connection is causing it. However, that is not always the case and it usually varies from case to case. We have compiled a list of various methods down below that you can implement to fix the issue. Let us get started.

1. Change Game Voice Channel to All Lobby

The first thing you should do when starting to troubleshoot the error message in question is to change your in-game voice channel. Call of Duty Modern Warfare II/Warzone 2 has a channels feature that allows you to communicate with your friends and other players in your game.  In most cases, we have found that changing your game voice channel to All Lobby has fixed the issue. This happens to be caused by a bug with the game that is to be addressed by the developer’s team.  With that said, follow the instructions below to change your game voice channel:

2. Start a Campaign Mission (if applicable)

One of the ways you can overcome the connection issue when playing Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 is to start a campaign mission. This is because the game syncs your campaign progress to its servers which requires an active link to the game services. With that said, to do this, you will need to own Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. If you have not bought the game, skip to the following method below.  However, if you have bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, you can establish a connection with the game servers by launching a campaign mission. Once the connection has been established, the error message should go away, and you can leave the campaign menu to play multiplayer.

3. Clear Steam Download Cache

Steam uses a download cache on your computer for files during the download or update process to move them later on. However, in some scenarios, an issue with the downloading process can leave behind files that can cause issues with your games.  In such a scenario, you can resolve the issue by clearing out the download cache through the Steam settings menu. This is quite simple to do, and it does not affect your installed games at all.  Follow the instructions below to clear your Steam Download Cache:

4. Disable Third-Party Antivirus

Third-party antivirus programs are quite common due to the large set of features that they offer. However, these antivirus programs often cause issues with other applications on your computer, especially games. The error message mentioned above can occur when the security program in the background is preventing the game from establishing a connection to its game servers. This is often a false positive which is a common scenario when using a third-party antivirus.  If this scenario is applicable, you will need to disable your third-party antivirus program and then check if the problem persists. If the error message goes away after you disable your security program, it will be evident the antivirus was interfering with the game process.  In such a scenario, you can whitelist the game process in your antivirus settings to prevent it from causing such an issue in the future.

5. Flush DNS Cache

The Domain Name System (DNS) server uses a cache on your computer to store the domain names translated to IP addresses. Doing this allows the domain name to load faster on subsequent visits as translation is not required. However, the DNS cache can get damaged in some scenarios which can lead to connection issues to certain servers. In addition, the IP addresses of the servers can also change, and an obsolete entry in the DNS cache can result in a connection issue.  To resolve this problem, you can flush the DNS cache on your computer. Once you do this, all of the previous entries will be removed from the DNS cache, and the DNS server will be required to translate older domain names again.  With that said, do note that this does not impact your internet connection, and is a safe process to carry out. Follow the instructions below to do this:

6. Delete Saved Data (PlayStation only)

If you are facing the issue on a PlayStation, and changing the game voice channel did not fix the issue for you, the issue is likely caused by the game’s saved data on your console.  Deleting the saved data of a game is completely safe to do. However, you will have to go through your settings again. Follow the instructions below to delete the saved data:
