With the recent multi-year deal between Qualcomm and Samsung, the South Korean tech giant will have the privilege of using Snapdragon chips for many years to come. The end of Exynos chipsets is not in sight, but Samsung will continue its two-pronged strategy, as it has done for some time; after all, performance-conscious enthusiasts deserve nothing less than the best. In its 2024 earnings call, Qualcomm announced that it has inked a multi-year agreement with Samsung, enabling the latter to source Snapdragon chipsets for upcoming Galaxy flagship phones. The partnership began this year, with the Galaxy S24 series of phones being the first to get the Snapdragon treatment. Therefore, the Snapdragon chipset will not be available in the Galaxy S or Galaxy Z lineup for at least a few more generations. The partnership that will form between Qualcomm and Samsung is beneficial for both companies. Since the South Korean tech giant has been receiving slightly more powerful versions of the chipsets for some time now—the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3—we can only imagine that they will continue to receive even better chipsets. Concurrently, the business will maintain its Exynos lineup and employ the two-pronged approach to guarantee that each market receives a unique but competent offering. Qualcomm stated the following during its earnings call: Given how much more competitive the tech industry is now compared to even just a few years ago, it’s encouraging to see companies like Qualcomm and Samsung putting aside their differences to produce powerful chipsets.
