Rocket League is even more fun with friends. It’s free and available on a multitude of platforms including PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Since Rocket League is available on pretty much everything that can game, the question everyone asks is: does Rocket League support cross-play?
Rocket League Supports Cross-Play
Cross-play is fully supported in Rocket League, leveling the playing field across different platforms. This means you could be teaming up with players on Xbox and Nintendo Switch, while facing opponents on PlayStation and PC, all in the same classic 3v3 match. While cross-play offers broader matchmaking options, you can disable it if you prefer to play with others on the same platform. This can be useful for more skill-based matchmaking and eliminating some of the hardware advantages that PC players might have. For instance, a PC gamer with a high-end system capable of higher frame rates and resolution could have a slight edge over a console player. By default, Rocket League has cross-play turned on, but you can choose to switch it off. However, do note that there isn’t an option to disable cross-play for specific platforms.

In any case you want to enable cross-play in Rocket League, the process is simple and straightforward:

Rocket League Supports Cross-Progression
Psyonix has allowed a great degree of cross progression in Rocket League allowing you to use your account on multiple platforms without sacrificing any progress. This means you can win a match on your PS4 and switch to PC for competitive play with the same account. All you need to do is link the accounts to your Epic Games Account and select the main platform on which you’ll be playing. All your items carry over and are accessible from each platform you’re playing on. It should be kept in mind that your Credits and Esports tokens do not carry over. Also, any purchased items will only be tradable on the platform they were bought on. Furthermore, platform-exclusive items will not be accessible on other platforms. You also cannot merge the data of 2 different accounts.
Keep on Balling
No matter what the platform, Rocket League requires a lot of practice and even more teamwork. It’s a pretty hard game, but a great place where you can goof off with friends. We hoped this helped you out and gets you matched with players more suited to your level. If you enjoy Rocket League, check out our other guide to learn whether Fall Guys is cross-platform.
