Compatibility mode allows users to run VALORANT with different versions of Windows. This feature was designed to run older programs that are incompatible with the current version of Windows. Since VALORANT is a recent game, there’s no need to run it in compatibility mode.

1. Run VALORANT as an administrator

Running VALORANT with inappropriate permissions also causes the VALORANT unsupported operating system error. Therefore, start by running it as an administrator, which will grant the necessary permissions to access the files and information required to run VALORANT properly. To do so, follow the steps:

2. Disable Compatibility Mode

As previously discussed, compatibility mode is typically used for running programs with older versions of Windows. However, VALORANT cannot operate with older versions, even when the compatibility settings are adjusted on the latest version. This holds particularly true when the user encounters this specific error. As a result, we should attempt to disable compatibility mode by following these steps:

3. Update Windows

If you have an outdated or incompatible version of Windows, you will have to update your Windows. Otherwise, you cannot play VALORANT unless you upgrade your Windows version. You should have at least Windows 10 version 1803 or above. Any Windows version before that won’t work. To check the Windows version, press the Win + R keys. Type winver in the input box and click OK. Here, you will see the Windows version. If it is outdated or incompatible, try updating Windows by following the steps:

4. Reinstall Riot Vanguard

Riot Vanguard is an anti-cheat program that runs in the background to monitor the programs and services running on your computer. This helps prevent the cheaters who are taking unfair advantage by using hacks in the game. However, when there is a problem with the Riot Vanguard or its services, VALORANT also refuses to launch by displaying different error messages. Therefore, try reinstalling the Riot Vanguard to fix this error. To do so, follow the steps:

5. Make sure you have TPM 2.0 and secure boot enabled

If you have Windows 11, you should make sure that you have TPM 2.0 and secure boot enabled from the motherboard bios settings. Secure boot is a feature in bios that helps prevent the malicious from executing when the computer boots up. While the TPM 2.0 is a chip in the motherboard or processor used to store the sensitive information. VALORANT requires both TPM 2.0 and Secure boot to be enabled in order to run VALORANT on Windows 11. Most PCs manufactured in the last five years support TPM and Secure Boot. However, if your motherboard doesn’t support any of them, you will have to downgrade your Windows version to 10 in order to play VALORANT. Follow the steps to check whether the TPM 2.0 and secure boot is enabled or not. To enable the TPM 2.0 and secure boot, you will have to access the motherboard bios settings.

6. Reinstall Valorant

If you are still facing the error, it could be due to the corruption in the VALORANT files. In this case, you can try reinstalling the VALORANT to ensure the corrupted files are not causing the issue. Simply follow the steps to proceed with the reinstallation of VALORANT. You might not get rid of this error message even after reinstalling VALORANT. This is because the error occurs due to the incompatibility of the Windows version. Therefore, you should try reinstalling Windows from the Microsoft website rather than finding other ways to fix this issue, as we tried every possible solution.
