Microsoft uses Wsqmcons.exe to oversee how users interact with Windows and other goods. It allows them to track user engagement as well as notify them about aspects that need enhancement. Despite not being a core Windows file, if Wsqmcons.exe causes problems, it can be turned off. Be aware, stopping it means Windows cannot send information to Microsoft for review.
1. Run SFC Scannow
Should you face any issues with Wsqmcons.exe, the SFC (System File Checker) utility can help. This command-line utility helps users fix and restore corrupted system files.
2. Check for Malware
Malware sometimes mimics Wsqmcons.exe to run on your PC without detection. If Wsqmcons.exe is causing problems, there’s a chance it could be malware. Therefore, confirm that Wsqmcons.exe isn’t malware. To do this, go to C:\Windows\System32 and look for Wsqmcons.exe. If it is not there, look for it in the Windows temporary files folder. If you find it there, it indicates your PC may have malware; scan your Windows with Windows Defender or reputable third-party antivirus software.
3. Remove the Wsqmcons.exe
Finally, if the above methods don’t help, consider disabling the Wsqmcons.exe process by deleting the Wsqmcons.exe file from the system32 folder. Wsqmcons.exe is not critical, you can safely remove it. To delete the file from the system32 folder, you need to claim ownership of that specific file from the trusted installer. Otherwise, you will get the “You Require Permission from TrustedInstaller” error message. Wsqmcons.exe is not essential. It is only used to gather user feedback for Microsoft. If you prefer not to provide feedback to Microsoft, you can disable the Wsqmcons.exe process. This won’t affect the operation of other Windows processes and applications.
